Steve Cook "confident" Bournemouth can turn form around

Bournemouth defender Steve Cook admits that his side have to be a lot better if they are to get off the mark with their first league points at the fifth time of asking.

Steve Cook has admitted that he has been left frustrated by Bournemouth's slow start to the season, but is confident that there is enough experience in the side to get back on track.

The Cherries have lost their opening four Premier League games of the 2017-18 season, conceding eight goals and scoring just one.

Manager Eddie Howe confessed after Saturday's 3-0 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium that his side were simply not good enough - thoughts echoed by Cook, who has played a full part in all four games thus far.

"We expect a lot better here. The standards we set last year and in the last three or four years are so much higher than we're producing now," he told Sky Sports News. "It's frustrating because we've got so much in the dressing room. Hopefully we can harness it the frustration in the right way and go on a run now.

"Personally I don't know why it hasn't clicked, but all we can do is keep working hard, as we've done over the years, keep believing and trying to improve and the results will come. We know that. We're still confident and know what we can achieve. It just takes that first win to get confidence levels up, and then we can try to go on a run.

"We've been in this kind of predicament before where we haven't won games. Obviously it's not ideal at the start of the season - you always want to win as quick as possible and go from there. It hasn't quite happened, but we're still confident that we can."

Bournemouth, currently 19th in the table, have the chance to pick up their first points of the season when they host Brighton & Hove Albion on Friday night.
