Bournemouth forward Callum Wilson says that it would be "a phenomenal achievement" if he managed to earn a call-up into the senior England squad.

Bournemouth forward Callum Wilson has said that it would be "a phenomenal achievement" if he managed to earn a call-up into the senior England squad.

England boss Gareth Southgate will name his squad for the upcoming friendlies against Netherlands and Italy on Thursday.

Wilson has been touted as a potential replacement for injured Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane, and the 26-year-old has said that he is "working hard every day" in a bid to earn international recognition.

"It has always been an ambition of mine, to make my family proud and myself proud. I'm working hard every day to fulfil that dream," Wilson told reporters.

"Four or five years ago I was playing on loan in non-league and now, to be potentially representing my country one day - it would be a phenomenal achievement."

Wilson has scored seven Premier League goals in 20 appearances for Bournemouth this season.
