Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Weigl plays down exit talk

Borussia Dortmund youngster Julian Weigl insists that he is not interested in leaving his current club amid talk of interest from Barcelona and Manchester City.

Borussia Dortmund youngster Julian Weigl has poured cold water on suggestions that he could leave his current club this month.

The 20-year-old, who came through the youth system at 1860 Munich, joined Dortmund last summer, signing a four-year deal with the German giants.

Both Barcelona and Manchester City have been linked with moves for the midfielder in recent months, but Weigl has insisted that he wants to remain in the Bundesliga.

"I'm really not going to leave Borussia. This is not an issue for me," he told Bild. "I can only emphasise that until 2019 I am under contract at BVB and still have some time [left]."

Weigl, who primarily operates in a defensive midfield position, has made 16 league appearances for Dortmund this season.
