Half-Time Report: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ilkay Gundogan help Borussia Dortmund into lead

Borussia Dortmund lead Stuttgart 2-1 at the break, courtesy of goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ilkay Gundogan.

Borussia Dortmund have registered a slender 2-1 half-time lead in their Bundesliga six-pointer away to Stuttgart tonight.

Jurgen Klopp's side raced out of the traps and threatened to move ahead twice inside 10 minutes.

First, goalkeeper Sven Ulreich denied Kevin Kampl following Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's cut-back, before the German reproduced those heroics to keep out Nuri Sahin moments later.

The visitors thought that they had seen their perseverance rewarded on 14 minutes when Aubameyang tapped home, only for his goal to be chalked off for offside.

The Gabon international did score legitimately on 25 minutes, however, as he latched on to Shinji Kagawa's mishit pass before slamming the ball past Ulreich from 12 yards.

Dortmund's lead only lasted seven minutes, though, as Florian Klein stroked home a penalty shortly after the half-hour mark when Sahin was penalised for a foul on Georg Niedermeier.

However, Ilkay Gundogan re-established the advantage on 36 minutes as Dortmund look on course for a third successive win.
