Bolton Wanderers manager Neil Lennon has made an official approach to bring in Charlton Athletic striker Igor Vetokele on loan.
The 23-year-old, who found the net 11 times last season, has been restricted to just one start for the Addicks so far this term.
Amid growing speculation in recent days, Charlton boss Guy Luzon revealed that he is hopeful of keeping the Angola international at The Valley, but would not completely rule out a short-term switch.
Lennon has now had his say on the matter, telling reporters: "We've made an approach. We're waiting to hear if that will be successful or not.
"He had a really good half of the season last year; he's pacy and he's quite good in the air. He's a good finisher once he's in there. I think he's a player who, if he does come, will make us better."
Bolton have scored just four goals in their eight fixtures to date, with recent injuries to Zach Clough and Emile Heskey making matters even worse for Lennon's side.
