Ten-man Sheffield Wednesday hang on for point against Bolton Wanderers

Bolton Wanderers are held to a point by ten-man Sheffield Wednesday at the Reebok Stadium.

Ten-man Sheffield Wednesday hung on to earn a point in a 1-1 draw against Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok Stadium.

Jermaine Beckford gave the home side the lead before Alex Baptiste scored an own goal to bring the score level at half-time.

The away side were reduced to ten men late on after Jose Semedo was sent off, but Bolton were unable to make their advantage count.

The away side started well and Matty Fryatt almost gave them the lead but the striker's effort was thwarted smartly by Adam Bogdan after good play from Giles Coke.

Moments later Jermaine Beckford scored for Bolton against the run of play after Neil Danns played the ball perfectly into the on-loan striker's path, who poked the ball beyond Chris Kirkland.

Bolton could only hang on to their advantage for 10 minutes when Alex Baptiste headed past his own keeper to bring Bournemouth level.

Early in the second half Lewis Buxton's well struck free-kick was well dealt with by Bogdan before Jeremy Helan saw his effort tipped onto the post by the Bolton keeper.

Beckford almost got his second of the match but the Bolton striker's shot from the centre of the box was well saved by Kirkland.

David Ngog replaced Danns and almost made an instant impact but Kirkland denied the striker and Beckford in quick succession to keep the scores level.

Jose Semedo was then sent off for Sheffield Wednesday after a challenge on Jay Spearing.

Bolton pushed for a winner with the one-man advantage but Wednesday hung on for a precious away point.
