Bolton Wanderers boss Neil Lennon: 'Takeover means we have a brighter future'

Bolton Wanderers boss Neil Lennon says that the club have a "brighter future" following Monday's takeover.

Bolton Wanderers manager Neil Lennon has claimed that the recent takeover will provide "stability" to the club.

On Monday, the Championship outfit agreed a £7.5m deal with Sport Shield Group, which is led by former footballer Dean Holdsworth.

The Trotters owed £3m in tax to HMRC, but because a takeover was struck a winding-up order was adjourned by the High Court for 14 days.

When asked for his thoughts on the development, Lennon told BBC Radio 5 live: "It's the end of an ongoing saga, it's great news for the club because it's been a struggle on and off the field in recent months.

"We're hoping with this news today that there will be some stability within the club and we're looking forward to a brighter future."

Bolton are currently in the bottom three of the Championship table, six points adrift of safety.
