Dougie Freedman rues tactical rigidity

Bolton Wanderers manager Dougie Freedman blames himself for his side's failure to defend their second-half lead during Saturday's 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town.

Bolton Wanderers manager Dougie Freedman has blamed himself for his side's failure to defend their second-half lead during Saturday's 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town.

Medo Kamara fired the Trotters ahead on 65 minutes at the Reebok Stadium, but David McGoldrick earned a point for the Tractor Boys by levelling the scores six minutes later.

Speaking after the match, Freedman refused to criticise his team's performance. Instead, he suggested that he must improve his own tactical plan.

"We're obviously disappointed with the result, especially after going a goal up," he told Bolton's club official website.

"The performance is there and the players are organised, but we have to learn how to defend a lead.

"When we now go a goal up I'm going to have to look to change the system to give the players some help."

Bolton are yet to win at home this season.
