Catania have been relegated from Serie A despite claiming a 2-1 win against Bologna this afternoon, who have also dropped out of the top flight.

Rene Krhin had a good chance for the hosts early on, but he could only direct his header over the bar from Erik Friberg's corner.

Catania took the lead in the 22nd minute when Fabian Monzon drilled a low free kick from just outside the box into the bottom corner.

The visitors were reduced to 10 men seven minutes later, after Gino Peruzzi picked up his second yellow card of the match.

Jonathan Cristaldo almost equalised for the hosts on the stroke of half time, but his header was kept out by Alberto Frison.

In the 79th minute Archimede Morleo drew the hosts level when he struck an effort from outside the box into the top corner.

Gonzalo Bergessio won the match late on with a low shot into the bottom corner, as both sides' spell in the top flight came to an end.
