Football League: 'Abandoned fixture between Blackpool, Huddersfield Town will not be replayed'

The Football League declare that Blackpool's abandoned Championship home match against Huddersfield Town will not be replayed.

Relegated Blackpool's abandoned Championship home match against Huddersfield Town will not be replayed, the Football League have stated.

Hundreds of fans ran onto the Bloomfield Road pitch after 48 minutes of Saturday's game in a protest against how the club is run, with the match being held up for more than an hour before the fixture was called off.

The league said in a statement: "Playing the match again would serve no justifiable purpose seeing as its result has no bearing on promotion or relegation."

They added that the result of the match would be decided at its next board meeting on May 14.
