Blackpool manager Paul Ince admits that this season is likely to be tough at Bloomfield Road due to financial constraints leading to lack of new faces at the club.

Blackpool boss Paul Ince has admitted that financial constraints will make this season a difficult one at Bloomfield Road.

The Tangerines have lost a string of experienced players this summer, including Alex Baptiste, Stephen Crainey and Neil Eardley.

Ince believes that the club must add to summer signings Michael Chopra and Steven Davies in order to be competitive, with a lack of senior professionals at his disposal on the eve of a new Championship campaign.

"It's hard to make your mark when you've only got 12 or 13 senior players," BBC Sport quotes him as saying.

"When you look at the likes of QPR and Wigan and the amount of money they're spending, it's not easy. Budget-wise, we can't compete.

"We've just got to make sure we're competitive, and make sure, if we can, that we try to get into that sixth place, but there are probably 10 clubs who all want to get into sixth place."

Blackpool begin their Championship campaign with a trip to newly-promoted Doncaster Rovers tomorrow, before facing Preston North End in the League Cup on Monday night.
