Blackburn Rovers manager Gary Bowyer has reportedly identified Grant Leadbitter as the ideal player to fill his midfield void.
Bowyer has spent the majority of the summer so far attempting to lure Jay Spearing to Ewood Park, but it is believed that the 24-year-old would prefer a return to Bolton Wanderers, where he spent last season on loan.
As a result, the Blackburn boss has moved on to Leadbitter and is willing to pay Middlesbrough £1.5m for his services, according to The People.
Fellow Championship club Nottingham Forest are also said to be interested in the former Ipswich Town player, who made 47 appearances in all competitions last season.
