Blackburn Rovers midfielder Danny Murphy reveals that he wants to keep on playing next season.

Danny Murphy has insisted that he has no intention of retiring this summer.

Recent reports had claimed that the Blackburn Rovers midfielder would call time on his career at the end of the most recent Championship season.

However, the 36-year-old has revealed that he has been taking "inspiration" from Manchester United veterans Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes.

"I've got another year left at Blackburn and I want to play as long as I can," he said. "I feel good, I've played probably 30 or 35 games this season and touch wood I've stayed clear of injuries.

"I still have inspiriastion from people like Giggs and Scholes who can play at the top level that long and if you're managed right, you have the right manager and the players around you then why not? I don't want to call it a day yet because everyone says you're a long time retired."

Murphy came through the ranks at Crewe Alexandra before playing for Liverpool, Charlton Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur, Fulham and now Blackburn.
