Birmingham City's Ben Foster will move across the Black Country to join West Bromwich Albion on a season-long loan.
The two clubs have agreed a fee of around £1m, rising to £4m if Albion decide to make the move permanent at the end of the season.
Baggies manager Roy Hodgson has been looking for a goalkeeper to replace Scott Carson, who left for Turkish club Bursaspor earlier this month.
The 28-year-old will become one of many top players leaving St Andrews as they look to settle financial problems that stem from Carson Yeung's assets being frozen in Hong Kong.
Centre-back Liam Ridgewell will join Foster at West Brom in a permanent £2m deal.
