Birmingham City extend unbeaten run

Birmingham City extend their unbeaten run in the Championship to six games by winning 2-0 at Bournemouth.

Birmingham City have extended their unbeaten run in the Championship to six games by winning 2-0 at Bournemouth.

Andrew Shinnie and Nikola Zigic were on target at Dean Court as the Blues earned their fourth away win of the season.

Shinnie broke the deadlock on three minutes with his first goal in English league football.

Oliver Lee crossed low from the right and the one-time Scotland international slammed the ball into the roof of the net from close range.

Birmingham doubled their lead just after the half-hour mark when Lee won possession and passed to Jesse Lingard, who slid the ball through to Zigic for the Serbian's fourth goal of the season.

Bournemouth improved after half time, but the Cherries were unable to find a way past goalkeeper Darren Randolph, who made saves to deny Marc Pugh and Matt Ritchie.

Birmingham climb to 14th in the table and are now six points clear of the relegation zone.
