West Bromwich Albion have reportedly identified Pepe Mel as their number one target to take the vacant managerial position with the Premier League club.
Mel has been unemployed since leaving Real Betis earlier in the season after a disappointing start to the campaign left the Seville-based outfit bottom of La Liga.
However, the Spaniard is highly regarded throughout Europe and has been linked with a number of roles since being relieved of his duties in Spain.
According to the Daily Mail, Mel will meet with Baggies chairman Jeremy Pearce this evening to discuss replacing Steve Clarke, who lost his job on December 14.
West Brom currently sit 16th in the Premier League table.
