Bayern Munich break record with Augsburg rout

Jerome Boateng, Franck Ribery and Thomas Muller all score as Bayern Munich make it 37 games unbeaten in the Bundesliga with a 3-0 win over Augsburg.

Bayern Munich have set a new Bundesliga record with a comfortable 3-0 home victory over Augsburg, becoming the first team to go 37 games unbeaten in the German top flight.

Pep Guardiola's side wasted little time in breaking the deadlock in the Bavarian derby, with Jerome Boateng volleying home on the turn five minutes in after waiting for Dante's flick to bounce at the far post.

The league leaders then proceeded to dominate possession without creating any clear-cut chances, probing through Franck Ribery and Mario Gotze.

Ribery fired over from distance soon after the opener following a mazy forward burst, with Augsburg restricted to looking for Andre Hahn with long diagonal passes.

Just before the break Ribery was brought down just outside the penalty area to give the hosts a dangerous free kick, which the Frenchman drilled into the top corner to extend Bayern's advantage.

Augsburg were far more stubborn after the break, with Mario Mandzukic frustrated in his search for a goal throughout despite the late introduction of Arjen Robben from the bench.

The visitors finally succumbed to late pressure as Bayern added a third through substitute Thomas Muller, who tucked home a penalty just before stoppage time to add gloss to the scoreline.
