Burnley boss Vincent Kompany has reportedly emerged as a candidate for the Bayern Munich job.
Ever since Thomas Tuchel and club officials at the Allianz Arena made the mutual decision to part ways this summer, Bayern have struggled to find a replacement.
The likes of Xabi Alonso and Ralf Rangnick have turned down opportunities, while Tuchel himself has opted against performing a U-turn.
As a result, the Bundesliga outfit, who finished third this season, have been left scrambling for an alternative as they bid to formulate plans for 2024-25.
Although there remains a number of possibilities for Bayern, it has been suggested that one manager in particular has "a serious chance" of becoming Tuchel's successor.

Kompany towards top of Bayern shortlist
According to Sky Sport Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg, who was speaking on X, Kompany has emerged as a top contender.
Plettenberg says that "concrete talks" have already taken place between the relevant parties ahead of a formal approach potentially being made to Burnley.
Club officials have allegedly been impressed with how Kompany has performed during the early stages of his managerial career, despite the Clarets' relegation from the Premier League.

How has Kompany performed in the dugout?
Kompany may be just 38 years of age but he has already accumulated 192 matches as a manager, recording 83 victories and suffering 51 defeats since 2019.
The former Belgium captain was a runner-up with Anderlecht in their domestic cup during 2021-22, and he ended his time there with just 18 defeats from 92 games, albeit with 32 draws during that stint.
Once an opportunity materialised to return to the North West of England, the Manchester City legend could not turn that down and he has only enhanced his reputation at Turf Moor.
Burnley blitzed last season's Championship campaign, recording 101 points from 46 matches during a season where they suffered just three defeats in the second tier.
His first campaign as a manager in the Premier League has proven far more testing. Although Burnley recently went through a period of losing just once in eight matches, collecting 11 points, ending the season with three successive defeats saw the club relegated by eight points.
As it stands, Kompany is currently preparing for another year in the Championship, but it appears that could change if Bayern firm up their initial interest.
