Pep Guardiola pays tribute to "brilliant" Javi Martinez

Bayern Munich head coach Pep Guardiola reveals his delight after watching Javi Martinez's "brilliant" display in the 2-0 win over Hertha Berlin.

Pep Guardiola has praised the performance of Javi Martinez in Bayern Munich's 2-0 victory over Hertha Berlin at the Allianz Arena.

The champions were comfortable on the way to the win which moves them 11 points clear of Borussia Dortmund, who face Stuttgart on Sunday, and Guardiola was eager to single out Martinez for his display in the centre of defence.

"He was brilliant," the Spaniard told reporters after watching his side extend their unbeaten Bundesliga run to 14 games.

"We often missed him, but he's back now. His mentality is great."

Martinez has played just nine Bundesliga games since the start of last season.
