Bayern Munich rejected 'very high' Thomas Muller bid

Bayern Munich rejected a "very high" offer for Thomas Muller during the summer, according to president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

Bayern Munich president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has revealed that the club rejected a "very high" offer for German international Thomas Muller.

The 25-year-old had been linked with a move to Manchester United all summer and the club had reportedly offered €85m (£62.1m) for the attacker, but Rummenigge did not reveal the team that made the bid.

Real Madrid were also believed to have been interested in Muller, but the chairman believes that Bayern would not sell their prized asset at any price.

Rummenigge told Suddeutsche Zeitung: "I'm talking about figures which were very high indeed.

"If I were a bank manager then I would have had to accept it, but as a football club we allowed ourselves to close the door on it, and this door is remaining closed. I can promise that to everybody."

The World Cup winner has scored five goals in three Bundesliga games so far this season.
