Bayern Munich's chief executive warns of growing "transfer tsunami"

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Bayern Munich's chief executive, warns of a growing "transfer tsunami" after Premier League clubs' spending this window.

Bayern Munich's chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has warned of a growing "transfer tsunami" due to Premier League clubs' spending this transfer window.

English top-flight outfits spent a record £870m on transfers this summer, compared to £290m in the Bundesliga.

Rummenigge wants Bundesliga's TV rights deal to be worth closer to the record £5.1bn the Premier League will receive over the next three years.

"This new English contract will dominate the market," he told Sueddeutsche. "We have just seen the tip of the iceberg. The transfer tsunami will increase in strength and height."

The window saw Bastian Schweinsteiger move from Bayern to Manchester United for a deal thought to be worth £14m.
