Croatia are dealt a blow as Ivica Olic is ruled out of the European Championships because of a thigh injury picked up in Saturday's friendly with Norway.

Croatia forward Ivica Olic has been ruled out of the European Championships after scans revealed his thigh injury was worse than first feared.

After picking up the knock in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Norway, the 32-year-old Bayern Munich man underwent a scan today and has been declared unfit for the next four to six weeks.

A statement on the Croatian Football Federation's official website said: "Unfortunately, Ivica Olic will not participate at the European Championships in Ukraine and Poland, and as his replacement, coach Slaven Bilic has called Nikola Kalinic."

Croatia take on the Republic of Ireland in their tournament opener on Sunday, read our preview of their chances here.
