Conference Premier roundup: Halifax Town halve Barnet's lead

Sports Mole rounds up Tuesday evening's action in the Conference Premier as Barnet see their lead halved after being held by Braintree Town.

Barnet have had their lead at the top of the Conference Premier table halved by Halifax Town after failing to defeat Braintree Town at Cressing Road,

The Bees, who previously held a four-point advantage, took a 12th-minute lead through John Akinde but an equaliser from Jordan Cox earned the home side a well-earned point.

Halifax capitalised on Barnet's shortcomings by earning a 2-0 victory away at Alfreton Town thanks to goals from Simon Ainge and Scott Boden.

Wrexham have moved into third place after a late goal from Elliott Durrell earned the Welsh outfit a 1-0 win over Kidderminster Harriers.

Torquay United have lost ground on the top three after falling to a 2-1 defeat at Forest Green Rovers, while Woking regain a playoff spot after a last-minute goal from Giuseppe Sole earned them three points against Nuneaton Town.

Bristol Rovers have drawn 1-1 at Eastleigh, despite having Steve Mildenhall and Ollie Clarke sent off, but Gateshead missed the chance to make inroads at the top of the table after ending level with Lincoln City.

At the bottom of the standings, AFC Telford United lost out 2-1 to Chester FC, but a last-gasp strike from Altrincham's James Lawrie won his team three points against Macclesfield Town.

Southport recorded an impressive 1-0 success at Grimsby Town, while Dover Athletic enjoyed their best performance of the season with a 3-0 success over Aldershot Town.

The other result of the evening saw the match between Welling United and Dartford end in a 2-2 draw.
