The agent of Barcelona midfielder Xavi has confirmed that his client has been offered the chance to extend his contract with the Catalan club.
The 32-year-old, widely regarded as the best midfielder in the world, still has two years remaining on his current deal. However, Ivan Corretja has suggested that the Spaniard will put pen to paper on a new contract.
"Last Friday the club sent us its intention to renew the contract because they want Xavi to sign a new deal, given that the current one ends in 2014," Corretja told Esport3.
"Therefore it is normal that we begin to talk about these issues because in June it would be too late."
Xavi has made 637 appearances for Barca.
