Report: Gerard Pique signs new Barcelona deal

A report claims that Gerard Pique has signed a new long-term contract with Barcelona.

Spanish international Gerard Pique has reportedly signed a new long-term contract with Barcelona.

The 26-year-old's previous deal was due to expire in 2015, with a number of European clubs, including his former side Manchester United, monitoring developments at Camp Nou.

However, according to Goal.com, the centre-back has now signed a new contract until 2018, which is believed to be worth around £6m per year.

The same report has claimed that the deal, which will take Pique into the latter stages of his career, is one of the most lucrative packages ever offered for a defender.
