Barcelona have confirmed that Lionel Messi will sign a new contract with the club on Thursday.
The Spanish club have revealed that the terms over a fresh deal until the summer of 2018 have all been agreed, but will not be signed until later in the week because Messi is currently with the Argentina squad that are preparing to take on Sweden.
He will return on Thursday, when he will put pen to paper at the club's offices at 4.30pm.
In signing the contract, the 25-year-old will join teammates Xavi and Carles Puyol, who have also recently committed their futures to the club.
Since his debut in September 2004, Messi has gone on to score 298 goals for the Camp Nou-based outfit.
