Javier Mascherano has insisted that he will not force a move away from Barcelona this summer.
The Argentine international has been strongly linked with a move away from Camp Nou over the last couple of weeks and refused to rule out a departure when questioned on his current situation last month.
Mascherano's stance has now changed, however, after learning that Barcelona do not want to lose his services.
"Barca have let me know that they have no intention of me leaving. They are very happy with me. When the club, and even more so this club, tells you this, it is very difficult to leave. I am not going to force anything. Nobody involved deserves that," he told Ole.
"There is always the possibility of leaving, but also of staying. I have a contract with Barcelona. They have treated me very well, I have no complaints."
Mascherano, 31, has two years left to run on his current deal at Camp Nou.
