Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos has welcomed Spanish international Thiago Alcantara to the German champions.
Thiago completed his move from Barcelona on Sunday and is expected to battle with Kroos for a spot in Pep Guardiola's Bayern team next season.
However, Kroos, 23, has insisted that the acquisition will provide healthy competition at the club in the new campaign.
"It's Pep's job to assign Thiago to a position. I think he's a very good footballer and good footballers are always welcome," Kroos told Tageszeitung.
"In a team which has so much quality, a few very, very good players will have to sit on the bench, just like last season."
Kroos has 35 international caps for Germany to his name.
