A report claims that Mauricio Pochettino rejected the Barcelona job earlier this year but has not ruled out taking over the Catalan giants in the future.

Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly still open to taking over as Barcelona head coach in the future, despite previously rejecting the job.

The 48-year-old has been out of work since leaving Tottenham Hotspur one year ago today and recently confirmed that he is seeking a return to top-level management.

Pochettino has been strongly linked with the Real Madrid and Manchester United jobs over the past 12 months, while Barca are also rumoured to hold an interest.

According to the Evening Standard, the Catalan giants approached the Argentinian in January after sacking Ernesto Valverde, but he declined the chance to take over.

However, the same report indicates that Pochettino, who spent 12 years with city rivals Espanyol as a player and then a manager, is now far more open to coaching Barca.

Ronald Koeman is the man currently in charge of the La Liga giants but is already under pressure following a slow start to the campaign.
