Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde has revealed that he is considering resting Lionel Messi for the La Liga clash at Celta Vigo.
Earlier in 2018, reports suggested that Messi would be sidelined during periods of the second half of the campaign due to the forward's desire to be ready to represent Argentina in this summer's World Cup.
With Barca facing Sevilla in the Copa del Rey final at the weekend, Valverde has acknowledged that Messi could be given the night off for the trip to Balaidos.
At a press conference, Valverde told reporters: "Resting Messi is a possibility like any other, but I think he is playing well, the other day he played a good game.
"We will make changes to the team in Vigo, I think it's an important week and that the team needs the rest."
Messi has already featured for Barcelona in 44 games in all competitions this season.
