Amadeo Salvo: 'We will respond from Barcelona defeat'

Valencia president Amadeo Salvo insists that his team will respond from their stoppage-time defeat to Barcelona.

Valencia president Amadeo Salvo has insisted that Los Che will respond from their 1-0 defeat to Barcelona on Sunday.

The hosts were the better team for long spells of the La Liga contest, but lost to a stoppage-time strike from Sergio Busquets.

"Sometimes football is cruel. We have experienced it last year and it has happened again now," Salvo is quoted as saying by Inside Spanish Football.

"At the same time, we have to congratulate everyone for making a very good match. Football just has these things from time to home. Our objective is still to qualify for the Champions League and this defeat will make us stronger. The team is in constant growth."

Valencia sit fifth in La Liga, two points off fourth position.
