Luis Enrique takes positives from Fiorentina defeat

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique takes the positives from his team's 2-1 defeat to Fiorentina in the International Champions Cup on Sunday.

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique refused to be too downbeat following his side's 2-1 defeat to Fiorentina in the International Champions Cup on Sunday.

The Catalan outfit were two goals behind inside 12 minutes in Florence and could not recover despite Luis Suarez halving the deficit in the first period.

Enrique has conceded that Barca "lacked effectiveness in front of goal", but has taken the positives from the pre-season loss.

"Fiorentina kept the ball well and they have potential. There are plenty of aspects of the game that I liked. We lacked effectiveness in front of goal but we did create a host of chances," Enrique told reporters.

"Things must improve and this has to serve as a stimulus for the team. We are very good if we are at 100% but if we are not then we are not so good.

"When an opponent gets the better of you in a game, normally they close off the space inside and force you wide. We worked that situation well and we were able to get into their box. We just needed to score."

Barcelona face Sevilla in the European Super Cup on August 11.
