Luis Enrique: 'Sergi Roberto can play right-back'

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique claims that Spanish midfielder Sergi Roberto is now a viable option to play in the right-back area.

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique has revealed that Sergi Roberto is now a viable option at right-back for the Catalan outfit.

The 23-year-old, who came through La Masia as a central midfielder, has been deployed in a full-back area for the Spanish side during pre-season.

With Martin Montoya out on loan and Douglas facing two months on the sidelines, Enrique has said that Roberto could battle Dani Alves for the right-back spot.

"I like [Sergi Roberto] a lot and he has the profile to play as a full-back. It's a resource we will use," Enrique told reporters.

Roberto made 14 first-team appearances for Barca last season.
