Barcelona midfielder Pedri says that he was apprehensive about returning to the field following an injury layoff.

Barcelona midfielder Pedri has admitted that he was apprehensive about returning to the field following a period on the sidelines through injury.

The Spain international has only made nine appearances for the Catalan giants during the 2021-22 campaign, having missed a number of months earlier this season due to a muscular problem.

Pedri has returned to featured in Barcelona's last five matches in all competitions, and he is in line to play against Napoli in the Europa League on Thursday night.

The 19-year-old has admitted that he found it difficult returning from injury but "had the confidence" to take to the field once he was given the all-clear by the medical team.

"It's true that you never know how you're going to come back," Mundo Deportivo quotes Pedri as saying. "I had the confidence to return as well as possible and that's been the case. The coach trusts me and I hope to return his confidence on the pitch."

Pedri has made 61 appearances for Barcelona since arriving from Las Palmas in the summer of 2020, contributing six goals and six assists in the process.
