Lionel Messi forced off with hamstring injury

Lionel Messi suffers a hamstring injury that forces him off after 45 minutes of Barcelona's Champions League tie at Paris Saint-Germain.

Barcelona forward Lionel Messi has been forced out of tonight's Champions League tie with Paris Saint-Germain after 45 minutes because of a hamstring injury.

Messi opened the scoring at the Parc des Princes but pulled up with a problem just before the interval.

After closer inspection at half-time, Barca coach Tito Vilanova decided to replace his star striker with midfielder Cesc Fabregas for the second half.

The club's official Twitter account confirmed soon after that Messi has picked up a problem and will undergo further tests tomorrow.

A tweet from the club's account read: "Messi sustained an injury to his right hamstring. He will undergo further tests on Wednesday to determine the extent of the injury."
