The buildup to the summer transfer window has now begun, with rumours and speculation continuing to swirl as Barcelona eye possible reinforcements.
The Spanish champions spent big on Antoine Griezmann during the summer but missed out on a big-name striker in January, leading to speculation that they could splash the cash again when the window reopens.
Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer news from the Camp Nou.
Thursday morning's Barcelona transfer talk news roundup:
Arsenal 'cannot afford to sign Philippe Coutinho'
Arsenal will reportedly not be able to afford to sign Barcelona attacker Philippe Coutinho during this summer's transfer window.
The Brazil international is currently on loan at Bayern Munich but is due to return to Camp Nou next month following the German club's participation in the Champions League.
Barca are allegedly keen to sell Coutinho in order to raise funds for Inter Milan's Lautaro Martinez, and a recent report claimed that Arsenal were one of the clubs to be offered the South American.
However, according to The Mirror, Mikel Arteta's side are not in a position to pay upwards of £60m in a transfer fee, while Coutinho's substantial wages would be an issue.
The report also claims that paying a large loan fee for the former Liverpool playmaker is not feasible due to the financial impact of the coronavirus outbreak.
The 28-year-old has been in relatively strong form for Bayern during the 2019-20 campaign, scoring nine times and contributing eight assists in 34 appearances in all competitions.
Barcelona make breakthrough in Lautaro Martinez talks?
Barcelona have reportedly made significant progress in their bid to sign Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez.
At the beginning of this week, Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu suggested that negotiations for the Argentina international had been put on hold.
However, according to SER, the two parties have reached a compromise over what it will take for a deal to be concluded.
As well as the Catalan giants paying €70m (£63.36m), Inter want to secure the services of left-back Junior Firpo.
The report claims that the Italian outfit are happy to accept that the 23-year-old will be priced at €41m (£37.11m), effectively taking the whole package to €111m (£100m).
Nevertheless, at a time when they are eager to sell several other players, it is unclear whether Barcelona are currently in a position to fulfil their end of the bargain.
