Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann has reportedly turned down a new contract with the club.
The France international, who has been strongly linked with a summer move to Barcelona, has a €100m (£88m) release clause written into his current deal.
According to leading Spanish football pundit Guillem Balague, it is unclear whether Atletico will return to Griezmann with an improved offer.
"I am hearing that Griezmann has rejected a renewal offer from Atletico Madrid. Let's see if they put another one on the table, but as things stand Barca are in pole position to sign him," Balague told Sky Sports News.
"With Griezmann under contract, Barca cannot agree anything with him yet, but they are willing to match his €100m release clause. Griezmann even knows exactly what Barca will pay him, but no agreement has been reached just yet."
Atletico recently booked their place in the final of the Europa League by seeing off Arsenal 2-1 on aggregate in the semi-finals.
