Sergio Asenjo has revealed that he wants to sign a permanent deal with Villarreal, but has conceded that money could be an issue.
The Spanish goalkeeper is currently on loan at the Yellow Submarine from parent club Atletico Madrid, but is due to return to the Vicente Calderon at the end of the season.
"It's a matter for Atlético Madrid to decide, so there's little I can say or do," he told reporters.
"It's a fact that football has changed these days and almost €5m (£4.1m) for a goalkeeper is a lot of money, but it's not something I can do anything about.
"Hopefully I can stay here, defending the colours of Villarreal. It's been a great season for me here and I'd like to stay and keep enjoying that."
Asenjo has seen his path at Atletico blocked by David de Gea and Thibaut Courtois in recent seasons.
