Radamel Falcao scores yet again as Atletico Madrid defeat Malaga 2-1 to go level on points with Barcelona at the top in La Liga.

Atletico Madrid have maintained their unbeaten start to La Liga with 2-1 victory over Malaga at home.

The hosts took the lead as early as the sixth minute, with Radamel Falcao heading home Emre Belozoglu's cross from close range.

Miranda could have doubled Atletico's lead seven minutes later, but he could not keep his header on target.

Ignacio Camacho tried his luck for Malaga in the 34th minute after being set up by Eliseu but his attempt was saved by Thibaut Courtois.

The visitors did not have to wait long to equalise though, as Roque Santa Cruz headed home Nacho Monreal's cross in the 36th minute.

Welington could have scored twice before the half-time interval with two headers, but he failed to keep them on target on both occasions.

Falcao had a good chance to put Atletico back in the lead after the restart, but his close-range header from Gabi's cross was saved by Wilfredo Caballero.

The Colombian striker tested Caballero soon after with a right-footed shot from close range.

Atletico eventually wrapped up the points in the 90th minute, with Welington deflecting Falcao's shot into his own goal from just yards out.

The win sees Atletico go level on 19 points with Barcelona at the top of the table in La Liga.
