Athletic Bilbao 2-2 Schalke

A 2-2 draw on the night sees Athletic Bilbao beat Schalke 6-4 on aggregate in the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

Athletic Bilbao have booked their place in the semi-finals of the Europa League with a 6-4 aggregate victory over Schalke.

A 2-2 draw on the night at the San Mames was enough to see Marcelo Bielsa's side progress.

The visitors took the lead in the 29th minute when Klaas-Jan Huntelaar capitalised on some sloppy defending from Ander Herrera before firing in.

Bilbao were level at half time thanks to substitute Ibai Gomez's fierce drive from 25 yards.

Schalke went back in front five minutes after the break as Raul fired in off the post from the edge of the area.

However, the hosts were all square again just minutes later when Markel Susaeta cooly slotted in from Iker Muniain's pass.
