Athletic Bilbao are through to the Europa League playoff round as a 0-0 draw in the third qualifying round second leg in Azerbaijan secured a 2-0 aggregate win over Inter Baku.

Inter nearly took the lead through Ager Aketxe's low shot and had a goal ruled out soon after when Rauf Aliyev was adjudged to be offside.

However, Bilbao dominated the first half possession and came closest to scoring when Javier Eraso hit the bar from the edge of the penalty area.

Inter's Mirhuseyn Seyidov fired over from distance and Dhiego Martins was denied by Athletic keeper Iago Herrerin shortly after the break, before the away side began to press for a winner.

Benat Etxebarria and Aritz Aduriz both missed chances to seal the tie for the La Liga side, who had 13 attempts to Inter's four, but in the end they had to settle for a draw on the night.

Eraso's first-leg double means that Bilbao are now just a two-legged playoff away from reaching the group stages of the competition, with the draw for the next round taking place on Friday August 7.
