Aston Villa confirm Ron Vlaar contract offer

Aston Villa announce that defender Ron Vlaar has been offered a new deal by the club.

Aston Villa have confirmed that they have offered defender Ron Vlaar a new deal to remain at the club.

The Dutch international's current contract at Villa Park is due to expire at the end of the month.

Vlaar's future in the Midlands is reportedly in doubt, with a number of sides across Europe understood to be keen on his services.

"Villa have offered a new contract to Ron Vlaar, whose previous deal expires at the end of this month," read a statement on the club's official website.

Manager Tim Sherwood recently claimed that he expects the centre-back to sign a new contract with Villa.
