Remi Garde 'on verge of Aston Villa exit'

Aston Villa manager Remi Garde is reportedly on the verge of leaving the club following their 1-0 defeat to Swansea.

Aston Villa manager Remi Garde is reportedly expected to lose his job in the wake of their 1-0 defeat to Swansea City on Saturday.

Federico Fernandez's goal condemned the Villans to a sixth consecutive defeat and a 21st of the season in the Premier League to leave them 12 points from safety with just seven games remaining.

Garde has failed to stop the rot at the club since taking over from Tim Sherwood in November, winning only three of his 23 matches in charge.

Villa have recently undergone an overhaul of their board in preparation for life in the Championship next season, and Garde held what were believed to be positive talks with new board member David Bernstein last week.

However, chairman Steve Hollis has refused to offer Garde guarantees over his future, while the Frenchman is also believed to be unhappy with the lack of money available to him in the transfer window.

Garde could now find that Saturday's defeat at the Liberty Stadium was his last match in charge of the club, with the international break meaning that they are not in action again until April 2.
