Dwight Yorke: 'I want to become Aston Villa boss'

Former Aston Villa striker Dwight Yorke reveals that he has ambitions to return to the club in a managerial role in the future.

Former Aston Villa striker Dwight Yorke has revealed that he still holds the club "very close to his heart".

Yorke netted 60 goals in 169 Premier League appearances for Villa before signing for Manchester United in 1998, and the Trinidadian has admitted that he wants to return to Villa Park to manage the club in the future.

The 42-year-old told the Express & Star: "One day, I will come back to manage the football club. That's how I feel. I have always believed that.

"My time at Villa got overshadowed in the eyes of some people because I went to Manchester United, but I know deep down that this is my club. It's the first result that I check for. I am more of a Villa fan than a Manchester United fan. Villa is very, very close to my heart.

"They were fantastic years in claret and blue. I have so many great memories of my time at Villa Park. Of course, my biggest achievement was winning the League Cup in 1996 and scoring at Wembley."

Aston Villa host Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
