Scott Sinclair: 'Everyone wants to impress Tim Sherwood'

Scott Sinclair is eager to impress new manager Tim Sherwood and hopes that his arrival can act as a clean slate for Aston Villa.

Loanee Scott Sinclair believes that Tim Sherwood's arrival as Aston Villa manager can act as a clean slate for the club.

Sherwood was appointed successor to Paul Lambert, sacked with Villa in the Premier League relegation zone, on a three-and-a-half-year contract on Saturday.

Sinclair has revealed that he and his teammates are determined to impress their new boss in the hope of getting first-team opportunities and expects the 46-year-old's energy to prove contagious around Villa Park.

"Everyone has something to prove, no-one knows if they are going to play so everyone is going to raise their game come the weekend," Sinclair is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying. "The manager will come in and pick the team and I'm sure the fans will be lifted as well.

"He came down and shook everyone's hand before the game and at half time all the substitutes go out so I wasn't in there when he was talking to the boys. I think there's a buzz around the squad and around the fans. Hopefully we can push forward.

"I don't know him personally, I am looking forward to working with him and hopefully he brings something different, it rubs off on the boys and we win games."

Sherwood, whose first official match in charge will be against Stoke City on Saturday, watched from the stands as Sinclair scored in the 2-1 win over Leicester City in the FA Cup fifth round at the weekend.
