Police arrest a man after former Premier League footballer Stan Collymore was racially abused on Twitter.

Police have arrested a man after former Premier League footballer Stan Collymore claimed he was racially abused on Twitter.

The alleged incident took place in the early hours of Saturday morning when Collymore reportedly received the tweet.

Northumbria police have stated that the 21-year-old will be held in custody ahead of the investigation.

Collymore, 40, has represented Liverpool, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest in his career and now works as a broadcaster.
