Ex-Aston Villa defender Paul McGrath calls Joleon Lescott a "slime bag" following the club's relegation to the Championship.

Former Aston Villa defender Paul McGrath has branded Joleon Lescott a "slime bag".

Lescott was heavily criticised for his comments after yesterday's 1-0 defeat away at Manchester United - a result that confirmed Villa's relegation to the Championship.

The 33-year-old insisted that the demotion would be a weight off the shoulders of the players, while earlier in the campaign he caused outrage by posting a picture of his new car on Twitter.

It has resulted in McGrath taking to the social networking site this afternoon to say:
