First-team coach Scott Marshall leaves Aston Villa

Aston Villa confirm that first-team coach Scott Marshall has parted company with the club.

Aston Villa have confirmed that first-team coach Scott Marshall has left the club.

The 41-year-old took temporary charge of the side for Sunday's 2-1 win over Leicester City in the FA Cup fifth round following the sacking of Paul Lambert.

However, new manager Tim Sherwood has decided not to keep Marshall on as part of his backroom staff at Villa Park.

"I'd like to thank Scott for his efforts during his time at the football club and especially under difficult circumstances at the weekend when he took the team for Sunday's FA Cup victory over Leicester City," chief executive Tom Fox told Villa's official website. "We wish him all the best in the future."

Villa are back in action on Saturday when they host Stoke City in the Premier League.
