Leicester City are reportedly losing sight of the signing of Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson, with the two clubs no longer in discussions over a summer deal.

Leicester City have reportedly suffered a setback in their pursuit of Arsenal attacker Reiss Nelson.

The 24-year-old graduated through the Gunners' academy and into the first team during the early stages of Mikel Arteta's reign as head coach at the Emirates.

With Arsenal evolving into a side who are regularly competing for major honours under the Spaniard, Nelson's first-team opportunities have reduced massively.

Despite showing his ability to provide game-winning moments in the Premier League, the winger only started a single top-flight match in 2023-24.

Arsenal starboy and England international Bukayo Saka is the clear first-choice option on the right flank, leaving Nelson with little chance of consistent game time in North London.

Nelson's Arsenal exit stalled?

According to the Leicester Mercury, Leicester's proposed move for Arsenal attacker Nelson has hit a major obstacle over the past few weeks.

The report claims that a deal to bring the 24-year-old across Premier League battlines to the King Power Stadium has 'stalled' for the time being.

It is understood that Arsenal and the Foxes held initial talks over the transfer of Nelson, who has played under Steve Cooper in youth teams for England.

However, it has supposedly emerged that the winger would be out of Leicester's price range, with talks no longer ongoing as the new campaign approaches.

As uncertainty around his future rumbles on, Nelson is currently on tour with Arteta's troops in the United States, playing 45 minutes of their 2-1 loss to Liverpool on Wednesday night.

Leicester failing to secure attacking targets

Returning to the Premier League following a one-year absence, Leicester are aware that they need to improve their attacking options in order to stay in the division.

A major target for the Foxes earlier in the summer was Juventus winger Matias Soule, who netted 13 goals in Serie A last term while on loan at a relegation-threatened side.

However, it was the 21-year-old's preference to remain in Italy that saw Leicester miss out on the Argentine, who has since put pen to paper at Roma.

With questions around the affordability of Nelson and West Ham United's fondness of the 24-year-old, the newly-promoted side could be set to lose another transfer window battle.
