Report: Liverpool holding out for £60m Raheem Sterling offer

A report claims that Raheem Sterling will not be allowed to leave Liverpool before his contract expires unless a bid of £60m is made.

Liverpool will not allow wantaway winger Raheem Sterling to leave the club this summer unless a bid of £60m is made, according to reports.

The England international's future at Anfield is looking increasingly bleak after agent Aidy Ward revealed that his client will not pen a new contract regardless of the money on offer.

Shortly after Ward's comments surfaced, the Reds cancelled a meeting with the 20-year-old that was due to take place on Friday afternoon, although the Daily Mail claims that Sterling had already made it clear to chief executive Ian Ayre that he has no intention of sticking around on Merseyside.

However, the same report suggests that Liverpool are determined to keep hold of one of their star players, and have now slapped a £60m price tag on his head.

That is significantly more than the bid that Manchester City were rumoured to be lining up, while it is also likely to rule fellow Premier League rivals Arsenal out of the running.

Sterling has two years left to run on his current £35,000-a-week contract at Liverpool.
